Is literacy really that important in science? Alex tackles that question and explores the complex language of science. He explores the role vocabulary plays in science, along with how reading and writing scientific texts can benefit from explicit teaching.

This SEERIH Spotlight will be led by Alex Quigley. Alex is a successful author of books for teachers, such as 'Closing the Vocabulary Gap' and 'Closing the Reading Gap'. A former teacher, he now works for an educational charity, support teachers to engage with evidence to improve their teaching, with a specific focus on supporting disadvantaged pupils.

Our remit is mainly primary school science curriculum and professional development.
